DN Solutions: End Multiple Operations And Setups With The Right-Sized, Right-Priced DVF 4000

414

No one wants to waste time and money taking parts on and off numerous machines to complete a complex workpiece. That’s why DN Solutions came up with the popular DVF family of vertical 5-axis machining centers in the first place.

The DVF Series is made up of compact 5-axis CNC machines that are fully packaged to manage a customer’s diverse 5-sided or simultaneous 5-axis applications. “Great machines,” you say. “But I’ve got a small shop and I’m not made of money.” We hear that a lot. And when our customers talk, we listen. So, we went right to work on finding a remedy. In all modesty, we think it’s a real winner. Meet the new DVF 4000 5-axis machining center.

The DVF 4000 is the baby brother to the other machines in the DVF Series. It’s the perfect model for shops that want an integrated 5-axis solution for virtually any part that has required multiple operations or setups in the past. It allows them to step up in terms of productivity and quality without spending half a million dollars on a CNC machine tool.

Sound good? Thought so. Let’s look at what you’ll get for your investment.

Purpose-Built 5-Axis Design

The DVF 4000 comes standard with a 15,000 r/min direct coupled spindle powered by a 24.8 hp (18.5 kW) motor, which generates 87.1 ft-lbs (118 Nm) of torque. A FANUC 31i-B5 Plus control makes full 5-axis simultaneous control possible, granting complete contouring capabilities.

Precision

For rigidity (and speed), the DVF Series incorporates roller LM guideways and a 400 mm diameter built-in rotary table with a zero-backlash roller gear cam design. The rotary table is designed for ease of use and consummate work efficiency, minimizing interference as the part is machined.

The machines are equipped with linear scales on the X, Y, and Z axes and rotary scales on the B and C axes for the most accurate positioning and repeatability.

The oil-cooled spindle controls heat to minimize thermal issues. A Z-axis thermal compensation feature collects real-time data from six sensors throughout the machine to automatically calculate compensation.

Versatility

An eight- or twelve-pallet AWC (Auto Work Changer) provides additional productivity by offering up pallets to feed the machine for unattended machining.

Each DVF Series machine comes equipped with a 40-tool servo-driven automatic tool changer, and the DVF 4000 is no different. This gives you more tooling to tackle complex parts that have varying profiles. For even more time savings, 60- and 120-tool magazines are also available.

Summary:

If you are using a 3-axis vertical with a retrofitted rotary table to avoid multiple operations or setups, the DVF 4000 provides a cost-effective alternative that was specifically designed from the ground up for maximum 5-axis productivity. Its compact footprint also enables installation in smaller shops where floor space is limited or comes at a premium.
