Seco works closely with Aerospace manufacturers to create and provide solutions that increase productivity and boost profitability. So, in 2016 when one of our top aerospace customers asked for AS 9100 D certification as a mandatory requirement for conducting business with Seco Tools, the global quality department decided that it was time we upgrade our quality management systems.
In 2017, the Seco Executive Management team set up a pilot project for meeting the Aerospace certification standards under the initiative of Andreas Fritz & Nobert König. The global steering committee consisting of Stefan Frölander, Norbert König, Atul Mohkhedkar & Adrian Cox monitored the project continuously. Ravindra Kohakade was the project lead.
Seco India is already ISO 9001 certified, but the Aerospace standard AS 9100 supplements the ISO 9001 requirements with specific requirements tailored to meet the highly regulated and standards-driven aerospace industry. The most important prerequisite for receiving the certification is an absolute commitment to the culture of quality management. The AS9100 certification required that we work with an accredited aerospace certification auditor who assessed Seco’s adherence to the Aerospace industry requirements.
After an extensive audit of all the processes, the Seco Tools India site has been awarded the ISO 9001: 2015 and AS 9100D on 13th January 2020, which is equivalent to EN 9100:2018 and JISQ 9100:2016. The certification is a confirmation that we strictly adhere to the technical and quality standards laid down by aerospace manufacturers. This also makes it easier for us to approach large aircraft and defense part manufacturers, who often tend to have a complex set of rules and audits before they start their procurement process.
Seco India is the 1st Unit in SMS to get this certification.
