Walter is introducing a new TC420 Supreme variant. This is a thread former (M5–M16) for blind-hole threads up to < 3.5 × DN, which combines for the first time chamfer form E with axial internal coolant without lubrication grooves. Another new feature is an addition to the metric variant (M24) of radial internal coolant for blind-hole and through-hole threads. Both have been optimized for maximum performance in universal application and are currently at the forefront of technology. The new type of combination of chamfer form E and a geometry without lubrication grooves improves the lubrication and, at the same time, reduces the torque by up to 30% – with a corresponding extension of tool edge life.
In addition to very high cutting data and long tool lives, users benefit from good surfaces with the new tools. The thread formers also show up to 30% higher break-out resistance under dynamic load compared with other procedures, which in turn increases the thread quality where workpieces are highly stressed. Walter offers the new TC420 Supreme thread formers for medium to large batch sizes with and without lubrication grooves, as well as with axial or radial internal coolant or without internal coolant – either with TiN coating (of the WW60AD grade) or in the TiCN variant (WW60BA). Typical areas of application include general mechanical engineering and the automotive and energy industry.
